We are glad to welcome you to the new LIFE CBO website.
LIFE CBO (Low Income Family Empowering) is a refugee-led organization (RLO) founded on 20 June 2025 by eight refugee members of different nationalities living in Kakuma Refugee Camp. We started because we saw children in our community unable to attend school due to a lack of learning support, and families struggling with limited job opportunities and reduced humanitarian assistance.
Today we work in Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kalobeyei Settlement, Turkana County, Kenya, through five programs:
- Food Package Assistance for orphans, elderly people, widows, and vulnerable families
- Primary Education Support with learning materials, uniforms, and counseling for children under 17
- Livelihood and Economic Empowerment through small business support, agricultural training and entrepreneurship workshops
- Peace Building, including dispute resolution and a multinational Council of Elders
- Community Engagement and Outreach through clean-up campaigns, sports, cultural exchange and community dialogues
This website shares our work as it happens: activities, results, community stories, and how support is used.
There are three ways to get involved: donate to a program or our general fund, partner with us on program delivery or funding, or volunteer as a member if you are 18 or older. Visit our Get Involved page to learn more, or contact us at info@lifecbo.org.
Thank you for visiting. We look forward to sharing our progress with you.
